It’s the classic date night: a meal and a trip to the cinema. But now cash-conscious gentleman and time-savvy romancers can save both their hard-earned pennies and their precious time: Dubai cinemas are pledging to combine the two by serving gourmet grub while you watch a movie. Reel Cinemas claim visitors can enjoy ‘the classic dinner and movie date’ with a new menu of ‘exclusive recipes’, including posh-sounding dishes such as home-made black Angus mini burgers or prawn dumplings. In other cinema news, VOX has announced a slightly scary sounding ‘aggressive growth plan’: it aims to open five new cinemas in the region next year, including two in the UAE’s northern emirates. Elsewhere, Grand Cinemas in Mercato Mall recently closed for refurbishment, and Grand says it no longer runs the venue. Let’s see what happens next.
