Those with a good memory for all things aquatic might remember that, on June 29 this year, six rehabilitated turtles were released into the Arabian Gulf from the Madinat Jumeirah. Each turtle was tagged so researchers could chart their progress. Four months after the ‘race’ began, we can reveal that of turtle finallists Kruneloni, Juzasa, Torpedo, Storm, Bob and Bahar, it was Storm, a 100kg loggerhead sea turtle, who travelled the furthest, clocking up 4,083km since her release. These tagged turtles were just six of the 150 rehabilitated turtles that were released in total.
