Holy month to begin on Wednesday following statement from moon sighting committee

The Moon Sighting Committee announced on Monday night that the holy month of Ramadan will start on Wednesday.

A statement published by news agency WAM read: "The moon sighting committee has announced that tomorrow, Tuesday July 9, will be the 30th day of the month of Sha'aban. Accordingly, Wednesday July 10 will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan."

Earlier on Monday, Dubai announced the official working hours for public sector departments during the holy month of Ramadan.

Dubai Municipality officials said working hours for government departments and centres will be from 9am to 2pm. 

Public paid parking will also run from 8am to 1pm, and 7pm to 12am in Dubai, the officials said.
