Pacha nightclub set to open in Dubai next year

New Ibiza-inspired super-club set to take the place of Trilogy

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

Worldwide nightlife brand Pacha is set to open a super-club in Dubai early next year.

We've learned that Pacha Ibiza Dubai is planning to open at Souk Madinat, taking up space that was formally Trilogy.

Longstanding Dubai nightspot Trilogy and neighbouring venue Jambase both closed in July to make way for a new super-club. Meanwhile it was revealed that Pacha was moving into the Souk, however until now club bosses have remained tight-lipped about their plans.

But now we've heard that the Dubai venue is set to be formally unveiled at a party in the brand's Ibiza homeland on the weekend of September 13, and is now likely to launch in Dubai in January 2014.

Despite the scant details, it's clear the club will represent a major addition to emirate's nightlife scene, likely to weigh in with weekly international guests from the brand's 20-plus clubs worldwide. We're expecting a huge area to be created from the combined floorspace of Trilogy and Jambase, alongside a prime Madinat location.

However during the long wait until 2014 clubbers are left to mourn the loss of longstanding Dubai institution Trilogy, which closed for the last time in the early hours of Saturday July 6, nearly three years after re-opening with a headline set from Mark Ronson in September 2010.

Since that date the club hosted an impressive roster of weekly international DJs, including the likes of 2ManyDJs, Sasha and Kevin Saunderson.

Meanwhile the neighbouring Jambase - which billed itself as ‘Dubai's only supper club' - closed for the last time on the same night, after years serving up classy food and live music in a jazz club-style atmosphere.

Chris Chudley, assistant F&B manager at Souk Madinat Jumeirah, said: ‘The closure of Jambase and Trilogy is indeed the end of an era and it's sad to say goodbye to two iconic venues. The best nights in Dubai happened in Jambase and Trilogy over the years.

‘But this is also an exciting time because later this year Souk Madinat Jumeirah will be home to Dubai's newest and most exciting nightlife venue, and that is definitely something to look forward to.'
