Posh new Dubai cab service

Get picked up by GPS, and pay automatically with a credit card

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

A brand new smartphone app has launched in the emirate, which uses GPS to pinpoint your location, then links you with the nearest available cab driver. The details of the driver and car are then passed to you in a text message once they arrive.

The best thing about the service is you don’t need to have any cash handy – the fare is charged to your credit card through your online account (with an option to split the bill with a friend) and a receipt is then emailed. Now that’s progress. Visit www.uber.com to get started.
