New vinyl appreciation evening in Dubai

Show up and spin your favourite tunes at Grooves and Crackles

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

Dubai might be awash with pumping nightclubs and underground nights, but there is rather different way to hear music landing in the emirate.

Grooves and Crackles may well be Dubai’s first ‘vinyl appreciation evening’, where instead of crowded dance floors and rowdy bar queues, music lovers gather in a coffee shop to sit and enjoy eclectic tunes at a more reflective pace.

And – get this – instead of ego-heavy decksmiths ruling the roost, everyone is the DJ. Simply show up with your favourite record and give it a spin – as long as it’s on vinyl.

The monthly night launches on Wednesday October 2 at The Magazine Shop, in Dubai Media City (Loft #2, Al Madar Street), at 6.30pm.

There’s a focus on soul, funk, jazz and world, with the event organised by talented DJ/producer Adriano K. Expect to hear rare and compelling grooves from across the globe.
