This week: Celebs flock for a birthday, a Harper’s Bazaar event and free mall wi-fi.

The red carpet will be rolled out at Level Shoe District (04 501 6690) on Thursday October 10 as high-profile footwear designers Roberto Cavalli, Alberto Moretti and Nicholas Kirkwood make their way to the luxe shoe hub for its first birthday celebrations. Also in attendance will be music royalty and Beyonce’s baby sister Solange Knowles, who is being flown out to DJ at the shindig, a West End-themed gig, bearing the banner ‘Let the Shoe Begin’. Attendees can get their hands on limited-edition T-shirts designed by a handful of luxury designers which will be sold for Dhs100, all proceeds will be donated to charity Dubai Cares.

Meanwhile, Mall of the Emirates (04 377 2000) made waves of its own last week when models took to the slopes of Ski Dubai (04 409 4000) dressed in the latest ski styles from the autumn/winter 2013 collections. Catwalk beauties put their sashaying skills to the test as they weaved their way down to the slope to introduce the launch of Harper’s Bazaar World of Fashion. Lastly, shoppers at Mall of the Emirates (04 377 2000) Deira City Centre (04 295 6688) and Mirdif City Centre (800 6422) can take advantage of free wi-fi when they are inside the mall. Guests will only be required to register once at any of the malls and passwords will be sent via SMS to a local mobile number.
