Café del Mar Dubai is no more

Ibiza brand has been closed to make way for new nightspot

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

It’s one of the most recognisable nightlife brands in the world, renowned globally for its sundown views and chill out beats. But, after less than a year in the emirate, Café del Mar has pulled out of Dubai.

The emirate’s Café del Mar franchise opened in JBR last winter but, after shutting for the summer period, it’s now clear the club won’t be re-opening any time soon.

Instead the Meydan Beach Club space will be used for a new nightspot, Azure Bleu, expected to open coming weeks.

It’s part of a significant overhaul of the club, which has had a refurbishment, and closed its Giannino restaurant to make way for a new venue Meydan Sur Mer, set to launch on Thursday October 10.

A spokesperson for the club said: ‘Meydan Sur Mer is a restaurant that will appeal to everyone... and Azure Bleu is going to make a huge mark on the city’s nightlife scene.’
