Super colourful Swedish socks in Dubai

Add some footwear flair thanks to Happy Socks

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

This week: New socks that rock, get your bags fixed and a speedy tailor service.

Like undergarments and shoes, when it comes to socks, sartorial snobs should own a pair for every occasion. Swedish sock company Happy Socks (www.happysocks.com) specialises in the loud, proud, statement variety and the brand is now available in the UAE for the first time. The autumn/winter 2013 Chapter#Six collection features camouflage prints, stripes and more subtle wool blends for shy types. Ladies don’t miss out either with feminine styles in argyle, tiger stripes and polka dots. Keep an eye out for the kiosks in both Ibn Battuta Mall and Dubai Festival City Mall.

Meanwhile, local start-up and dedicated detailers of designer totes Lovin My Bag (04 285 1211) is now running a ‘Bye-Bye-Abaya-Dye’ service, which protects handbags against abaya dye (something we were intrigued to find is even a problem) as well as all other stains. The service takes just 48 hours and includes home delivery.

Lastly, Dubai tailor Royal Fashion (www.royalfashion.biz) has opened a branch in the JW Marriott Marquis (04 414 0000) on Sheikh Zayed Road. The men’s tailor creates great quality suits and shirts using materials from Italy and the UK and it can deliver suits within 72 hours, while the shirts are churned out in just 24 hours.
