New park opens in JLT

Residents no longer have to drive to feel grass beneath their feet

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

Residents of Jumeirah Lakes Towers no longer need to venture to other communities to feel the grass beneath their feet. Less than a year after work began to drain the lake that originally stood in its place, the neighbourhood’s new free park has finally opened to residents.

Though by no means sprawling, the area has enough room for swings, seesaws and roundabouts for kids, a small half court for basketball and plenty of grassy areas for a picnic (as well as a bouncy castle on Time Out’s visit) all encirculated by a paved path. Though the turf has only just been laid, and some parts (including the jogging track) are yet to be completed, the park is already proving a hit with residents and visitors, who visited in their hundreds last weekend.
