Stone Temple Pilots Dubai gig confusion

Doubts surround Jazz Festival performance as band reportedly pull out of all upcoming gigs

The Knowledge

Rock fans are facing up to fears that Stone Temple Pilots may not be coming to Dubai.

The alt-rock stalwarts are booked to headline the opening night of Dubai Jazz Festival on Thursday February 13.

But according to a statement from the band released by Australia’s Soundwave festival, where they were set to perform on February 25 and 26, the band has pulled out of ‘all upcoming tour dates’.

Meanwhile the Tour section of the band’s own website lists no upcoming shows.

However Dubai Jazz Festival are yet to confirm whether the Dubai gig will go ahead. A spokesperson for the festival said an announcement will be made soon.

The band’s Australian statement read: ‘Due to a scheduling conflict, STP w/ Chester Bennington regretfully has been forced to cancel all tour dates.’

The band, who recently took on former Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington after dismissing Scott Weiland, their iconic frontman of nearly three decades, are billed to perform on a bill with Dubai rockers Juliana Down.

Meanwhile jazz legends Al Foster and Tony Lakatos will perform on the Jazz Legends stage on the same night.
