East 17 coming to Dubai... or what’s left of them

Remaining members of ’90s boyband to play Music Room gig

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

East 17 are coming to Dubai – or what’s left of them, anyway.

Boasting a ‘brand new line up’, the current incarnation of the ’90s boyband stars founding members Terry Colwell and John Hendy – but not their better known band mates Tony Mortimer and Brian Harvey.

Meanwhile the ‘new’ band is bolstered to a trio with one extra, if conspicuous, member – Robbie Craig, of Artful Dodger fame.

Previous gigs from this line up in Ireland went under the name The East 17 Experience.

In Dubai the band performs as East 17 at The Music Room on Friday March 7.

Meanwhile, despite promotional claims that this will be the band’s first time in the Middle East, in fact East 17 performed Christmas themed gigs at McGettigan’s JLT in 2011 and 2012, in a trio line up featuring founding member Tony Mortimer.

Whatever you make of this new incarnation of the band, you can expect the lads to perform all the original quartet’s best known hits, including ‘Stay’, ‘House of Love’ and ‘It’s Alright’.
