Carl Cox to play Atlantis super-gig in Dubai

DJ legend to headline huge beach party, with more names to be announced soon

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

Carl Cox will headline a huge beach party on the sands at Atlantis the Palm.

The legendary DJ will return to Dubai for the first time in seven years to perform at the 9,000-capacity event, which takes place on Friday March 21.

And while the big man has been signed up for an impressive three hour set behind the decks, promoters promise more names will be added to the bill soon.

Falling under the same Live @ Atlantis concept which brought both David Guetta and Noel Gallager to Atlantis’ beach last year, it will be the first gig to be hosted on the sands since the disastrous Sandance NYE event.

A pioneer of the mid-’80s rave scene, who later gained household fame with his Essential Mix contributions for the UK’s Radio One, Cox ranks among the most-in demand decksmiths on the planet.

Cox is a huge favourite of Dubai’s most renowned decksmiths, with Audio Tonic head honcho Mr Mr, Infusion boss Charl Chaka and Sandance resident Marko Smokingroove all ranking him as the DJ they would most like to warm up for, when interviewed by Time Out.

Who knows, with more acts to be announced soon, it could be a dream come through for at least one of those names.

Tickets, priced at Dhs200 for regular and Dhs400 for VIP, go on sale from 9am on Tuesday February 18 from www.timeouttickets.com.
