No Premier League footie on OSN

Encryption problems set to drag on for four more weeks

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

Dubai-based football fans using an OSN set-top box to view the latest matches on BeIN Sports channels (formerly Al Jazeera Sport) could face a wait of up to four weeks to get their TV channels back.

According to reports, the issue is due to changes in the way the network is encrypted. Fans with Etisalat, du and third-party boxes are unaffected by the problem.

Those who use boxes direct from OSN get the extra channels using a card-based system, but currently upon using them receive an error message. Fortunately for those who have been affected, many of the city’s fine pubs and sports bars are unaffected and able to show your favourite matches – the next four weeks provide an excellent excuse to get on first-name terms with the bar staff in your local.
