Another new mall in Dubai

Carrefour and Vox signed up for huge new free zone complex

Knowledge story, The Knowledge

Currently slightly overgrown and a little unloved, Dubai’s International Media Production Zone (IMPZ) is set to get a new lease of life. Mall giants Majid Al Futtaim (the company behind the UAE’s City Center shopping havens, including Mirdif and Deira City Center) has announced it will build a one million square foot mall in the Dubai free zone, to be located near the intersection of Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.

For residents in the nearby Jumeirah Village Circle and Triangle neighbourhoods, it will no doubt prove a more convenient destination than any of those currently standing, housing a Carrefour supermarket, Magic Planet leisure centre and Vox Cinema complex.

While the mall is to be completed in phases, the first 300,000 sq ft is expected to be finished and ready for shoppers as early as 2015.
