Fears UAE gig will be pulled as ‘Wake Me Up’ hitmaker is hospitalised

Massive EDM star Avicii may be forced to pull out of his upcoming Dubai gig after falling ill.

The 24-year-old star behind ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Hey Brother’ pulled out of a career-defining set at Miami’s mammoth Ultra Festival on Saturday (March 29) at the nth hour.

The Swedish DJ tweeted to fans that he was undergoing surgery hours before he was scheduled to take the stage.

He told fans: ‘It's a routine procedure and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour.’

While his people have since confirmed the operation was a success, it’s unclear whether Avicii will be fit and well for his scheduled gig at Atlantis The Palm on Friday April 4.

Events company think shared the following statement: ‘Over the weekend, Avicii (Tim Berg) was admitted to hospital for a minor operation.

‘We are waiting for more information from his management regarding his Live @ Atlantis gig this Friday and will share this with you as soon as we know. In the meantime we wish Avicii a speedy recovery.’
