Knowledge story, The Knowledge

This week: we see a major beauty store rebrand, check out a new hair-styling kit and peek at the region’s biggest nail salon.

If you’re scooting off on a summer getaway, don’t be alarmed to find your favourite beauty store has changed its identity by the time you get back. Faces (www.faces-me.com) is changing its name to Woojah (which means ‘faces’ in Arabic), with stores set to undergo rebranding over the next couple of months. But fret not – it will still stock all the products you love.

Meanwhile, ladies and gents faced with the looming horror of humidity-induced frizz can tackle the problem with Philips’ new jojoba oil-infused hair straighteners, which promise to iron out tresses without inflicting damage, thanks to ceramic plates that have been infused with heat-resistant jojoba oil. They’re available in all major pharmacies and hypermarkets now for Dhs299. In other hair news, head to Marquee (04 420 7700) to try the Diamond Dry Cut, a trademarked method for cutting hair that’s clean and dry, allowing stylists to work with its natural movement and texture to complement face shapes and features. Prices start from Dhs280.

Finally, fancy getting your nails done in the Middle East’s biggest nail spa? Now you can at Beauty Connection Spa on Sheikh Zayed Road (800 22772), which has 55 spa chairs, 45 manicure tables and a whopping 70 nail technicians per shift – getting a last-minute appointment shouldn’t be too tough here...

That’s all for now beauty queens.
