Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo in The Dubai Mall is now home to a new resident – a 750kg, 40-year-old saltwater crocodile named King Croc, along with his female companion, to be precise. One of the largest reptiles ever held in captivity, and likely to grow even bigger over the next 50 years, King Croc arrived at his new enclosure in the mall from the Koorana Crocodile Farm in Queensland, Australia, earlier this month, and according to aquarium operators will help educate visitors on the conservation of these magnificent creatures. It is estimated the crocodiles will spend almost 90 percent of their time in a central 150 sq m pool, which also houses a number of fish, and the remaining time resting on dry areas with heated tiles.
