Two hit new themed festivals which thrilled music fans in the first half of 2014 will return next year.

The inaugural RedFest DXB and Blended festivals both took place at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre earlier this year – and now promoters Done have confirmed both two-day events will return almost exactly a year on.

So music lovers – get these dates in your diary now:

RedFestDXB – February 12-13 2015

Blended – April 30-May 1 2015

With a focus on upcoming and chart-friendly artists, this year’s RedFest attracted a younger crowd to hear a hot and eclectic mix of contemporary hitmakers including Jessie J, Rita Ora, John Newman, Naughty Boy and The Lumineers.

Meanwhile with a more mature roster of folk, soul and jazz acts and sofa-style set up, Blended attracted older aficionados to hear the likes of Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Joss Stone and Aloe Blacc.

Both events were easily ranked among our 40 biggest gigs of the season – click here to see how many you made it to.

A spokesperson for promoters Done told Time Out that the 2015 festivals will follow a similar format, with both events again taking place over two days.

Thomas Ovesen, COO of Done Events, said: ‘We always felt that what Dubai and the region’s music scene was really lacking was a festival concept like we see in other parts of the world, and the reception we had to both RedfestDXB and Blended was testament to this.’

Headline artists are expected to be announced after August – keep an eye on www.timeoutdubai.com and follow @TimeOutDubai on Twitter to find out first.
