This week: handmade button bags, a collaboration and staycation shopping deals.

We’ve noticed a rising trend for crafting start-ups in Dubai of late and the most recent one to catch our eye has a fashion focus. Zorar, which means ‘button’ in Arabic, is the brainchild of founder and designer Farida Talaat who hand makes unique bags and clutches using buttons. You can find them stocked at regionally-supportive boutiques with a local focus, including O’De Rose (04 348 7990) and Boom & Mellow (04 344 4512).

Meanwhile, UK brand Hogan (04 341 3144) has joined forces with British designer Simon Holloway to unveil a special women’s collection for autumn/winter. The ‘neo romantic’-inspired range fuses style elements from the ’70s including dandy suits and biker jackets with cashmere fur. We dig this tailored white wash-out suit ensemble.

Planning a staycation? Shoppers who spend at City Centre Fujairah (09 201 2310), City Centre Ajman and City Centre Sharjah before the end of the month will win e-coupons, with Dhs500 in gift vouchers to be won every day, as well as the chance to win the grand prize Chevrolet Cruze when you spend Dhs399 or more.
