Knowledge story, The Knowledge

If you’re good with a pencil or even a dab hand as moving computer mouse around really, you could be the person behind the Expo 2020 Dubai logo.

To celebrate the huge event in the United Arab Emirates, you could not only design the official symbol, but win other amazing prizes too. It’s as simple as having a valid Emirates ID card.

If yours is selected, it will appear in front of millions of eyeballs and you’ll pocket Dhs100,000. Additionally you’ll be invited to the prestigious opening ceremony, and get a season pass for two people to Expo 2020 Dubai.

Can it get any better than that? Yes, actually.

You and three guests of your choice will also get to swan off to the three previous Expo 2020 cities.

If you’re under 18 years of age then a parent, guardian or caregiver can make the entry on your behalf.

But make sure you do so before April 30 – that’s next Thursday – to be in with a chance of winning.

You might be aware that there is already an Expo 2020 logo, however they want to update the look to reflect on the essence of the UAE.

Drawing on the creative minds of residents here, Expo 2020 wants the final emblem to have a universal appeal, be inspiring and act as a sign of pride.

The winning design should have a unique character and show the ambition of the character, there’s an additional chance to explain your interpretation of that with a 1000-word essay.

You can’t submit joint entries and although it’s not required that you’re a professional when it comes to designing, those entries are encouraged.

In November 2013, the United Arab Emirates won the right to host the World Expo in Dubai in 2020. This will be the first time that the World Expo is staged in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA).

The next World Expo is in Milan, Italy, this year with the focus being “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.
