Don Alfonso restaurant has unexpectedly shut down.
The eatery located inside The Shangri La Hotel, Dubai closed its doors last Thursday without warning to foodie fans.
However fans can look forward to the Italian Mediterranean place reopening later this year. This time the restaurant will be in a brand new space which as yet has not been disclosed.
A statement reads that Don Alfonso’s fresh venue will come to life later this year and it “will entice you and continue to encompass the Don AlFonso philosophy”.
Don Alfonso 1890 – which also has branches in Italy, China and Morocco - was founded in 1973 by the Alfonso Family in Sant’Agata, a southern part of Italy nestled between the Sorrento Pennisula and the Amafi coast. The philosophy of the restaurant is based around passion, purity and pleasure.
In the Dubai restaurant, foodie fans enjoyed creations by Chef Christian de Nadai, who first trained under Chef Don Alfonso – the man who started the fourth generation business.
The closure comes shortly after Rivington Grill in Madinat Jumeirah announced it was no more.
After April 17 at midnight the restaurant underwent a renovation before a new brand is launched in its place at the end of this year.
Fans of the popular Rivington Grill brand can still get their fix at the Rivington Grill Souk Al Bahar restaurant in Dubai Downtown.
