Racing ahead

The new Abu Dhabi Grand Prix circuit is taking shape at top speed as the track surface is laid…

Work is on schedule at the new track as designers stress the importance of laying the track before the summer kicks in.

The foundations of the 5.55km track have been down for some time but the important track laying works have only just started.

Work on the track has involved 4,000 tons of gritstone, specially shipped in from a quarry in Shrewsbury in the UK.

The team buildings are also almost complete, as is a large pedestrian bridge which will link the granstands. If you’re lucky, you might even get a peek of the development if you’re driving along the Dubai to Abu Dhabi road near Al Raha Beach.
