The largest chain of theatres in the Middle East, Novo Cinemas, has announced plans for a 19-screen multiplex to be located in the heart of the city.
It comes as part of an extension of the Wafi Mall, Dubai.
The luxury shopping and leisure destination will house one of the biggest and most advanced cinemas in the Middle East, introducing never-before-seen entertainment concepts including unique, family-tailored entertainment offerings and a new standard in the first-class experience. By next year, the theatre chain looks set outgrow its reach to over 200 screens.
This Novo branch will also showcase a cutting-edge IMAX theatre equipped with IMAX laser project technology – the most advanced in the world.
IMAX's breakthrough laser technology will provide audiences with the sharpest, brightest and clearest images ever, coupled with a new level of precision audio and IMAX's theatre geometry to offer movie-goers the most immersive cinema viewing experience to date.
CEO Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen, explained how the planning phase of the project took them across the globe to discover the most advanced concepts in the cinema experience.
She added: “We aim to push boundaries and set new standards for the industry, and to once again deliver on the Novo Cinemas promise of A Great Time Out.”
Wafi is currently home to award-winning restaurants, such as Time Out Dubai’s 2015 Best new Restaurant Solo Bistronomia, inside the Raffles Hotel as well as the popular nightclub People By Crystal.
It’s a great retail, fitness and spa destination and the addition of the fresh Novo concept will only hope to make it more sought after for going out.

Previously announced locations for the brand include Dubai's Dragon Mart and IMG Worlds of Adventure. Openings have also been planned at Doha's 01 Mall and North Gate Mall, and Bahrain's Seef Muharraq Mall.
