The proposed 60,000-seat football stadium at Dubai Sports City will move to construction phase once the necessary finance is in place, the developers have confirmed.
Details of proposed venue were announced in March last year, when Dubai Sports Council (DSC) said it would build the facility close to Dubai Sports City, with a completion date of sometime in 2018 mooted.
The project was revealed as the UAE Football Association outlined its bid to host the 2019 Asian Cup, which was awarded to the UAE in March this year.
Speaking to The National newspaper, the developer’s CFO, Vijay Sajjanhar, said that once finance was in place, the project would proceed.
“The company is actively looking at it at this point of time. We have to do it and we will do it,” Sajjanhar said.
“We are looking at actively closing down on the finance for this. And as the financial closure happens, we are going to go ahead,” he added, without giving details of a timeframe.
