Fans at San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a special look behind-the-scenes of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' this weekend.

The festival which took place July 9-12 got 'Star Wars' lovers even more excited for the forthcoming flick by director J.J. Abrams, producer and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and writer Lawrence Kasdan.

It begins with a piece to camera: ‘Everything’s changes but nothing’s changed. That’s the way you want it to be.’

Keep your eyes peeled at 0.33 for a desert shot, and again we return to the sand at minutes 1.04-1.23 as well as 2.05 as the crew talk us through what to expect.

Simon Pegg – who plays an alien – jokes about his devotion to his work at one stage while in costume: ‘It’s 'Star Wars'. I’d burn for 'Star Wars'.’

At another point as the footage allows us to see what goes on off-camera a voice on a tannoy can be heard saying: ‘We are here on 'Star Wars Episode Seven'. How amazing is that?’

It’s clear many of those working on the set are in awe of their cool gig. One of the castmembers says to camera after completing his scene, ‘I can die now’.

At Comic-Con, the filmmakers were joined on stage by cast members Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford to the surprise the audience.

At the end of the presentation, the entire Hall H audience of more than 6,000 fans were all invited to continue the celebration and join cast and filmmakers at a surprise Star Wars Fan Concert. The San Diego Symphony performed the classic Star Wars music from John Williams at the Embarcadero Marina Park South.

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' is in cinemas from December 18, 2015.
