Shoppers, who used to be able to stroll along the edge of the aquarium, before choosing if they paid to go in, will now be charged Dhs25 for adults and Dhs20 for children, just to take a peek at the outside.
“The new system recently introduced at Dubai Aquarium gives priority access and an opportunity for visitors to come close to the viewing panel,” said a spokesperson from the Dubai Mall.
But visitors have other ideas about the new scheme. Sarah Hunt, a British tourist, spoke to The National and said she was appalled by the change.
“Now the photos that people want to take will be ruined unless you pay up. It seems like a moneymaking scheme to me. I am glad I managed to visit before the charges were in place.” She added: “It’s not so much the expense, just the principle because a lot of families will be inconvenienced now.”
