Dubai Reggae Festival promises seven international acts

Wayne Wonder, Junior Reid and Rupee, as well as a Jamaican kitchen, will be stars of the show at XL Beach Club

News roundup, The Knowledge

Fans of Bob Marley will rejoice at news of the Dubai Reggae Festival coming to XL Beach Club in November.

Featuring Wayne Wonder, Junior Reid and Rupee, it is promising to be the biggest event of its kind in the region to date.

Grammy-nominated Wonder will headline the event at the Dubai Marina venue on November 7. His smash hit No Letting Go crossed over into the mainstream in 2003, and he received a nod for Best Reggae Album with the No Holding Back album that followed.

Ably supporting the Jamaican will be fellow countryman Junior Redi, a dancehall star who can count Alicia Keys, with whom he performed at the Video Music Awards (VMAs), The Game and Lil Wayne is collaboration partners. He is best known for One Blood and This Is Why We Hot.

Barbados-based - but German-born - Rupert Clarke, known as Rupee, completes the main stage bill. The soca singer will be joined by local talent and international DJs yet to be announced.

The whole event will include three stages and a 'one-of-a-kind' customised Jamaican kitchen.

Tickets for the Dubai Reggae Festival, which is being presented by organisers of the Reggae Beachfest events, are priced from Dhs150.
