Two new big stand-up names have been added to the bill for the upcoming Dubai Comedy Festival.
Joining heavyweights Dave Chappelle and Trevor Noah, as well as a host of regional talent, will be Comedy Central's Hannibal Buress, and rising star Jerrod Carmichael.
The announcement of the two Americans comes less than a month before the 10-day celebration of the funny business kicks off in Dubai Marina.
The first event of its kind in the region will run from October 15 to 24 at various locations, including a purpose-built 4,500 seat venue at SkyDive Dubai, which will host two Main gig weekends.
As well as the headliners, the festival will run a number of masterclasses, forums and daily street shows. A range of languages will be represented.
Local funny man Ali Al Sayed; Saudi Arabian YouTube sensation Bader Saleh and American Comedy Magician Mac King will all perform.
Buress has enjoyed a big year with the launch of his Why? series on Comedy Central, the highlight of more than five years in the TV industry, in which he has featured in shows like Louie, Saturday Night Live and The Eric Andre Show. He has also written for smash hit 30 Rock.
Carmichael, meanwhile, has just seen his self-titled sitcom hit screens in the US. Set in North Carolina, his hometown, and following the stand-up's fictional family, it has already been renewed for a second season.
In addition to Buress and Carmichael, organisers announced India’s representative in ‘The Funniest Person in the World 2015’ competition, Nitin Mirani, would also feature.
Tickets are now on sale at dubaicomedyfest.ae, priced in four categories - Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver.
