The Knowledge
Things to do on October 2:

The Pub Landlord: British comic Al Murray is back in Dubai, this time performing his award-winning stand-up show One Man, One Guvnor, for the first time on Friday October 2 from 6pm. At any other time this week, you might find the eloquent Oxford graduate at Barasti’s Oktoberfest – he told us himself he enjoys a night at this Dubai stalwart and, let’s face it, finding him on-stage without hops is a rare moment – but tonight he’ll be transformed into his loud-mouthed alter ego, sharing his cheeky, unique form of comedy with an audience at Dubai World Trade Centre.
Dhs300-500, 6pm-10pm. Fri October 2. Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Zayed Road, www.doneevents.com (04 439 0900).

Shipwrecked: Set sail on a super-yacht to celebrate the launch of an inaugural series of events dubbed Shipwrecked. The first boat party sees DJs Natalie Brogan, Salvatore Peppino and Michael Dunne spin soul, funk, ’90s classics and the latest house tunes while you partake in unlimited food and beverages. The theme of the day is “tiki vintage pin-up”, so don’t forget to don the leis and hulas.
Dhs400. 1pm-5pm. Marina Mall harbour, Dubai Marina (056 836 5305).

Ice Warrior Challenge: Set yourself a dare with a difference at Ski Dubai today, which is hosting the Ice Warrior Challenge, a sub-zero assault course with 15 icy obstacles standing in your way. We’re talking tackling walls, zorbing and stair runs, to make it to the finish line. Registration proceeds are being donated to the Dubai Center for Special Needs.
Dhs250 per person. 8am. Ski Dubai, Mall of the Emirates, Al Barsha (04 409 9257).

AOC French Brasserie brunch grape: Distinguished French grape beverages are on offer at the transformed AOC French Brasserie brunch today, alongside delicacies such as foie gras, fresh seafood and gourmet cheeses.
Dhs320 (house beverages), Dhs230 (soft drinks), Dhs115 (kids aged 13-17), free (kids under 12). Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach (04 448 4848).

In The Pink treatment at SensAsia Urban Spas: The spa is getting into the Think Pink spirit, with the launch of a special 110-minute treatment that includes a Balinese massage, the Tickled Pink SensPolish and the Even Pinker SensWrap, all for Dhs565. A limited-edition version of the Signature Blend oil (Dhs99), bearing a pink ribbon, is also available. All proceeds will be donated to Friends of Cancer.
New. Dhs565 and Dhs99. Until October 31. Various locations including Al Nafura Beach Club 1, Shoreline Apartments between buildings 1 and 2, Palm Jumeirah (04 422 7115).
