Matt Damon may be a total action hero with the Bourne franchise films and plenty others on his CV, but the actor is totally afraid of heights.
He’s performed some rather impressive stunts in his time but the 44-year-old froze in his tracks when he tried to enjoy a romantic evening with his wife in Dubai.
Speaking this week about the occasion a 10 years ago, Matt – who is father to four children with his wife Luciana Barroso – admitted that couldn’t walk to the edge of the entirely safe helicopter pad attached to the Burj Al Arab.
"We weren’t staying there, this is a 7-star hotel and the only chance we got to go in the Burj, We get up to the top and we go out on the pad and we start walking towards the edge and my wife goes all the way to the edge and I literally froze and went full lizard brain, 10 feet from it," he said on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
"My legs just didn't work and she thought I was joking. I didn't know I was afraid of heights, I had never been up that high. It was safe in the sense that there’s a chain link fence that would catch you. It would catch a helicopter. But I still couldn’t stand on the edge."
Matt’s latest role is an astronaut in new movie The Martian.
