And there’s even more exciting news in that Nigerian star DJ Cuppy will be playing at the awards ceremony after-party on Wednesday March 25 at The Penthouse, FIVE Palm Jumeirah, an event that you're invited to join Time Out Dubai at (for more information click here).

Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, famously known as DJ Cuppy, is a musician and entrepreneur who is a rapidly rising up-and-coming star. While doing a BSc Economics at Kings College London DJ Cuppy was already producing her own tracks and DJing around the world. Since then she’s travelled to more than 25 countries to DJ, and she’s coming back to Dubai later this month, to open the Time Out Dubai Music & Nightlife Awards 2020 after-party.

We caught up with DJ Cuppy ahead of her appearance at the Time Out Dubai Music & Nightlife Awards 2020 after-party.

What do you think of the Dubai music and nightlife scene?
“The Middle East is similar to Africa in that our emerging creative industries are buzzing with so much innovation and energy. Dubai is a city dear to my heart. It’s modern, progressive with a vastly multi-cultural population resulting in dynamic music. I particularly love that Dubai is so creatively accommodating. As an international DJ, every performance allows me to share my African culture. Dubai has now become an aspirational music stage, where the scene is always growing and has bloomed to become an amazing haven for music-lovers. I’m sure it’s only going to get even better from here. Maybe DJ Cuppy will call Dubai home one day?”

What are you most excited about the Time Out Dubai Music & Nightlife Awards 2020?
“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a night to remember and I am so excited to be a part of such an epic initiative celebrating creativity. Time Out Dubai has done a super-amazing job of giving accolades to collectives and individuals. I’m a huge supporter of events that bring creatives together to network and celebrate achievements.”

What fans can expect from you in the next few months?
“My ‘Cupcakes’ from around the world are in for a treat! I have been working really hard on my debut EP which I plan to release this year. I worked with some of the world’s best talents. I am super-proud of this body of work I have created and I cannot wait to share it. Over the next few months, I will be working on completing the project, which I can reveal to Time Out Dubai is called #OriginalCuppy.”

What do you love most about DJing?
“I am very passionate about music, playing and creating music has always been my first love. But what I love most about DJing is being able to take people on a journey with the different genres of music. Being able to help people escape is so fulfilling. Every time I play and see people light up, I think I love my job all the more. I’m out here spreading happiness. I always love connecting with my audience whenever I play, which is why before I perform at any gig, I take out the time to curate a playlist that would resonate with the audience I’ll be DJing for. Music is so powerful.”

The Time Out Dubai Music & Nightlife Awards will be held on Wednesday March 25 at W Dubai – The Palm. The after-party will be at The Penthouse, FIVE Palm Jumeirah, so get ready for a top night out.
