If you’ve been hankering for a renaissance with some classic ’90s indie Britpop, then Time Out Dubai has got an absolute treat lined up for you.
We’ve partnered with the legendary Irish Village to bring you a night of live music, featuring three iconic Britpop bands, coming to town on Friday May 12.
The Lightning Seeds, featuring main man Ian Broudie, will be headlining the night at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, as Time Out Dubai revels in some classic ’90s hits from anthemic albums The Life of Riley, Jollification, Dizzy Heights and Tilt.
Perhaps most renowned for their collaboration with Baddiel and Skinner for iconic football anthems Tree Lions in 1996, and latterly reprieved for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, The Lightning Seeds were one of the defining bands from the 1990s.
Another Liverpudlian band, The Farm, will be gracing the stage at The Irish Village, bringing with them a multitude of their UK Top 40 hits – most notably All Together Now – and the full original line-up. After being signed in 1991, The Farm embarked on a four-year worldwide tour where their raucous live shows came to be a hallmark of the band.
Filling the last slot on the stage is Toploader, whose unrelenting cover of King Harvest’s Dancing in the Moonlight has seen them known globally. It’s fair to say Toploader’s rendition of the song surpassed the success of the original, and while the band is synonymous with that track, a plentiful back-catalogue of critically acclaimed albums and singles promises a fantastic opening to the night.
