First look: The London Project

Time Out Dubai goes behind the scenes at the brand-new restaurant on Bluewaters Island

1/10

The buzz around the brand-new Bluewaters Island is rapidly picking up pace – and Time Out Dubai’s been along to visit one of the new restaurants set to open soon in the area.

The London Project, billed as “an immersive dining destination and social movement” is due to open later this year on Bluewaters Dubai – the site across from JBR that houses Ain Dubai.

The restaurant will sit “at the foot” of the world’s largest ferris wheel, in prime position on the island. And as you can tell from these pictures, diners will have a pretty good view.

The new project is set to be a restaurant, bar and social space, and has “urban chic décor” from designer Julian Peter Floyd. And each of the spaces within The London Project has its own focal point. “The Living Ground Floor Dining Bar is inspired by the form of a living tree”, he said, while there’s a juniper garden inspired by “a wild, enchanted English country garden”.

And they’re really going all out with the green theme, too, as you can see.

The restaurant promises a mish-mash of global cultures, celebrating London’s affinity with art, music and fashioning. So far, so interesting.

The food will take a starring role, too, although no clues have yet been given to dishes, except that flavours will be “pulled from a truly cosmopolitan spice rack”. It will be sharing dishes, though, and expect to see an open kitchen, too.

And it’s not the only thing opening on the island. World-famous hotel brand Caesers Palace is setting up there too, and will have a hotel, resort and beach club.

The two hotels will mark the first international branches of Caesars, and promise a range of “innovative entertainment experiences” as part of the grand opening of the hotel chain.

Famous in Las Vegas for its show-stopping performers, world-class live music and the biggest theatrical venue in North America, Caesars will have two distinct venues at the Bluewaters site: Caesars Palace Bluewaters Dubai and Caesars Bluewaters Dubai.

The US$2.17 billion (Dhs7.97 billion) Bluewaters Island Project developed by Meraas is in its final stages of completion, with the man-made island also featuring apartment buildings, gyms, swimming pools, landscaped gardens, basketball courts and children’s play areas.
