Careem just launched a food delivery app in Dubai

When it comes to ordering takeaway in Dubai, we're spoilt for choice – whether it's Uber Eats, Talabat or Deliveroo.

But now a new contender has entered the ring, with transport app Careem launching a new food delivery service – Careem NOW.

The company has invested $150million into the new offering, which is available as a separate app from today via iOs and Android.

And even better, if you're one of the 33million people already signed up to Careem you'll automatically be able to access the new service.

It will run seven days a week in line with restaurant opening hours, with customers charged a fee for deliveries.

The app is set to include a range of restaurants, although we're still waiting to find out which ones exactly will be delivering via the service.

In Dubai, Careem NOW will initially be available in Business Bay, Jumeirah 1, JLT, Marina, Tecom, Al Quoz, Diera, Garhoud, Motor City and Sports City.

Adeeb Warsi, managing director of Careem NOW, said: “Careem NOW can do for food delivery what Careem has successfully done for ride hailing.

“Careem NOW will create awesome dining experiences, more employment opportunities and have a hugely-positive impact on the rapidly growing food delivery market as it’s rolled out in each country.

“It’s another new vertical from Careem as we expand beyond ride-hailing.”

We can't wait to get ordering.
