Bank customers in the UAE have been urged to update their Emirates ID details before Friday February 15.

On the cut-off date, the use of ATM cards will be halted for those who have not confirmed their information, according to the Central Bank.

However, the good news is that it's easy to update your details – and there are five different ways to do it.

All customers need to do is email the bank a photocopy of their ID, access an ATM machine or use a customer service centre to complete the process.

It's also possible to provide the information via bank websites and mobile banking apps.

If you do forget and your ATM card does stop working, you can still head into a branch – where you can take out money and update your details.

And according to the Central Bank, no additional charges or fines will be levied on customers in the event of a temporary hold being placed on an account.

It's worth remembering that details updated via e-banking can take up to 10 days to process fully, while ATMs will make the changes within a minute.

The February 15 date comes before the official February 28 cut-off time given by authorities for banks to provide updated details.

So if you've forgotten and your ATM card stops working this coming Friday, then there's still plenty of time to get that information up to date.
