With any amount of cinema experiences popping up across Dubai, there’s no need for sitting in front of a postage-stamp sized screen being blasted by arctic-level air-con and picking at soggy nachos – but calm down, nobody’s expecting you to.

With the last cool winter evenings upon us it’s time to head outdoors and enjoy a movie under the stars, and where better to do so than on the shores of the Arabian Gulf?

The Ritz-Carlton Dubai has launched Open-Air Cinema Nights and the series kicks off this evening (Wednesday November 24) with romantic tale, The Notebook, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. And you’d do well to take your tissues.

Next week (Tuesday April 30) Gosling will be back again starring alongside Emma Stone in La La Land, before the final screening on Wednesday May 1 which will see Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as two American cops attempting to clear up the streets of Miami in Bad Boys II.

But enough about the films, we want to know about the snacks. Well rest assured, it’s well worth the wait, especially when you splash out Dhs100 on a special package, which includes your movie ticket (usually Dhs50) and the full Dhs100 to redeem on food and drinks pre, post or during the movie.

Put your Dhs100 towards a meal at Amaseena, Blue Jade, Splendido, Palm Grill, La Baie Lounge or go in on the pop-up light bite cinema menu of popcorn and the like.

Lights go down at 8.30pm. Get that in your notebook…

Dhs50 (ticket only), Dhs100 (ticket and Dhs100 redeemable on food and drinks). Wed Apr 24, Tue Apr 30 & May 1, 8.30pm. The Ritz-Carlton Dubai, JBR (04 318 6150).
