With the summer heat kicking in, the UAE school hours have been announced by the Ministry of Education.

To combat fatigue, officials have announced revised hours for the nation's public schools.

Over the summer there will be no morning assemblies and class periods have been shorted from 45 minutes to 40. It means the day will be around one hour shorter than usual.

The new timings are already in place and will run throughout June and July.

When it comes to kindergarten, pupils will start school at 8am and finish at 11.45 am.

Boys in primary school will start at 7.15am and their last lesson will finish at 12.37pm. In secondary school, the day will start at 7.15am and finish at 1.20pm.

Girls in primary school will start their day at 8am and finish at 1.22pm, secondary school will start at 8am and finish at 2.05pm.
