Abu Dhabi reveals futuristic 'Smart Driving' test

Taking a driving test in the UAE is about to get a whole lot easier, with Abu Dhabi announcing a new Smart Driving Test project.

Under the modern scheme, examinations will be carried out in smart vehicles that feature advanced systems that monitor and evaluate the performance of the driver.

Vehicles will be connected to control and monitoring rooms where assessments will be made.

Test centres in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra and Al Ain will host a total of 32 smart vehicles between them, including 19 automatic vehicles, 13 manual vehicles as well as 28 buses.

It is not yet known if the initiative will be introduced in Dubai, but it's a good sign of the future technology that's involved in learning to drive.

Once you've passed that test, why not head on a brilliant road trip somewhere in the UAE?

We've rounded up 15 of the most essential, from quick journeys to whole-day trips, here.
