New UAE visa rules for dependents revealed

Officials have revealed new UAE visa rules that will make things easier for families in the UAE.

A male dependent's visa can now be renewed for up to two consecutive years when they complete secondary education, graduate from university or reach the age of 18.

Previously, dependents would have had to get their own residency visa upon reaching one of those milestones.

Alternatively, their guardians would have had to pay Dhs5,000 under a humanitarian appeal.

But now it's possible to apply via any residency or naturalisation office for a fee of Dhs100 under the new Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship guidelines (ICA).

In addition, the ICA has abolished tourist visa charges for children under the age of 18 who are accompanying their parents to the UAE over the summer months.

The visa fee waiver rules apply from July 15 to September 15 and are applicable regardless of the length of the validity of the parent’s visa.

The waivers can be obtained here or through the ICA’s smart app.
