Dubai dry night confirmed for this weekend

As we move closer to the Eid al-Adha holidays, Dubai authorities have released a statement to local bars and restaurants stating that there’s to be a dry night across the emirate this weekend.

It’s to mark the occasion of Arafat Day during the Eid al-Adha holiday, and it means that establishments across the emirate are set to be dry for the night of Friday August 9, and throughout the day of Saturday August 10.

Set to last for approximately 25 hours, bars and restaurants will be dry from 6.30pm on Friday through until 7.30pm on Saturday.

The private and public sectors are set for a five-day holiday between Friday August 9 and Tuesday August 13, with workers set to return to their jobs on Wednesday August 14.

Here's a provisional list of the country's public holidays for 2019 so you know what to look out for – dates are subject to change based on moon sightings.

Sunday September 1: Hijri (Islamic New Year)
Sunday December 1: UAE Commemoration Day
Monday December 2-Tuesday December 3: UAE National Day
