Two new road improvements have opened up in Dubai which are set to make getting around the city a lot easier, and help pave the way for the new trans-emirate Etihad Rail service.
The Al Yalayis and Al Asayel improvement projects have completed, which are designed to “enhance the link of Sheikh Zayed Road with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, as well ass the Emirates Road”, according to the RTA. Al Asayel Street in particular, which runs through Al Quoz, is designed to make travelling to Al Khail Road from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road a lot easier.
“The project increases the intake of Al Yalayis Street to about 20,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. It also cuts the transit time between Sheikh Zayed Road (7thinterchange) and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to just four minutes,” said HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
The works also included the construction of two flyovers which have been designed to accommodate the construction of Etihad Rail, the new train network set to revolutionise passenger and freight transportation between emirates.
