GITEX 2019 has been bringing us a huge amount of exciting tech news over the last week, and one more brilliant announcement has seen Dubai Police set a world-first.

The world’s first floating police station has been announced, and it will be stationed at The World islands. Expected to open at the start of 2020, the station will provide security and e-police services to residents of the area.

The station is based in one of the floating seashorse villas found at The World, part of the massive The Heart of Europe development which you can read all about here.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police said: “This extraordinary, unique and pioneering project has grabbed the attention of police and security institutions around the world, as they seek to replicate the experience in their countries.”
