The world is holding its breath in anticipation for Expo 2020 Dubai.
And now the Kingdom of Bahrain has officially laid the foundation stone of its pavilion, which will cover 2,000 sq ms.
The pavilion, which is under the ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ theme, will explore the interrelationships between creativity, density, and opportunity.
Designed by renowned Swiss engineer Christian Kerres, the pavilion will be a 24 m semi-cubic building with a central viewing area.
Expo 2020 will kick off on October 20, 2020, and last for six months until April 10, 2021. It is expected to attract around 25 million visitors, with 70 percent of those from outside the UAE.
It is hoped the Bahrain pavilion will give the Kingdom a “premium opportunity to enhance its presence in a world-standard open business and economic climate”.
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) president and commissioner-general of the Bahrain pavilion Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa attended the official ceremony.
He was joined by 2020 Dubai Expo bureau executive director Najib Mohammed Al-Ali and Bahrain ambassador to the UAE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla bin Ali Al-Khalifa.
