Shopping malls, cinemas and restaurants in Dubai to remain closed until April 18

Dubai Economy has announced that all commercial activities in the city will remain suspended until Sunday April 18.

“In line with the preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19 Dubai Economy extends the circular on the closure of commercial activities until the end of the National Disinfection Programme on the 18th of April 2020. The exempted sectors will operate as usual,” read a Tweet posted today (Tuesday April 7).



Commercial activities were previously suspended until tomorrow (Wednesday April 8) but this has now been extended.

Closures including shopping malls and commercial centres, coffee shops, gyms, theme parks, restaurants, amusement games and electronic games centres, cinemas, massage parlours and spas.

The suspension continues until the end of the National Disinfection Programme, which started on March 26. On Saturday (April 4) it was announced that Dubai’s Disinfection Programme was to extend to 24 hours a day, with movement restricted to those in vital sectors, while a move permit is needed for the general public to make essential trips to supermarkets and pharmacies.
