Dubai Police have provided additional guidance on how to gain a permit to leave the home while the country attempts to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Earlier this week it was announced that the general public now requires a move permit for any purposes involving leaving the house. Permits are only approved for three purposes, for essential purchases at a supermarket, for purchasing medicine at a pharmacy, or for hospital and health-related trips.
Permits can be acquired through dxbpermit.gov.ae, and Dubai police has confirmed that a screenshot of the Movement Permit must be carried with you at all times.
Whether you’re walking, cycling or driving, you need a permit to avoid legal action.
Permits are available to obtain quickly and easily using a web form that requires minimal information, including your personal ID number (Emirates ID, passport of driving licence) and the registration plate of your car if you are travelling by vehicle. They’re processed instantly in many cases, and you’ll need to request a specific time slot in which you can make your trip.
“A screenshot of the approved Movement Permit, be it a journey by car or on foot, must be kept by all members of the general public once they leave their homes to avoid legal action,” a statement by Dubai Police read.
