Cinemas across Dubai to open with strict social distancing

Outdoor and indoor cinemas , 2D movies and F&B services in cinemas are able to reopen from tomorrow (Wednesday May 27).

3D and 4D movie experiences must remain closed. Temperature checks will be compulsory for everyone entering – staff and cinemagoers – and social distancing and safety measures must be in place.

Inside the cinema room, horizontal and vertical social distancing is to be applied by allocating two seats per customer and to leave two seats empty in each row “horizontally, aisles to be considered as 2 empty seats”, and to keep every alternate row empty “vertically”.

Children under 12 and adults over 60 will not be allowed to enter the cinema.

Show times will be reduced to enable time for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes cleaning between showings. Blankets will not be provided in gold, platinum or VIP experiences.

Malls in Dubai will be able to operate at 70 percent of their capacity in common areas post Eid al-Fitr. Capacity was previously capped at 30 percent. While attractions across Dubai including ice rinks and aquariums are also allowed to open, but at 50 percent capacity.

This follows the news that from tomorrow (Wednesday May 27) gyms, cinemas and other businesses around Dubai are allowed to reopen.

Opening hours across Dubai are able to be from 6am until 11pm. Tonight (Tuesday May 26) is the final night of 8pm to 6am National Sterilisation Programme hours.
