Public beaches in Dubai reopen

Public beaches in Dubai reopen

Four public beaches in Dubai are open from today (Friday May 29).

“Dubai Municipality announces the reopening of JBR beach, Al Mamzar, Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim beaches from Friday May 29, and asks all to adhere to the public safety measures and guidelines to ensure the health & safety of all,” read a tweet from Dubai Media Office.

Everyone at the beach must wear a mask, including children, while play areas remain shut.

This follows the news that from Wednesday May 27 gyms, cinemas and other businesses around Dubai were allowed to reopen.

Malls in Dubai are now able to operate at 70 percent of their capacity. Attractions across Dubai including ice rinks and aquariums are also allowed to open, but at 50 percent capacity. Cinemas are also now open but with strict social distancing in place.

Hotel beaches opened earlier this month, but for guests only, with strict social distancing in place.
