Uber launches new services in Sharjah

Those looking for another means of transport in Sharjah can book an Uber, as the ride-hailing service has now launched in the emirate.

Passengers can expect to use its list of services, including UberSelect, which is the app’s most affordable way of hailing a ride.

In light of COVID-19, Uber has put in place safety precautions for passengers and drivers, including making sure both wear masks throughout the ride.

There is also the ability to cancel a ride without cancellation fees if passengers or drivers aren’t wearing a mask.

Other safety precautions include ensuring drivers regularly sanitise their vehicles, and to make sure there is hand sanitiser available for passengers, too. In addition to this, there will be protective screens in place.

“We’ve seen the benefits of rapid technology adoption and improved access to transportation in the region.

COVID-19 has presented unprecedented challenges, but as we work towards accelerating recovery, we’re focusing on our strengths,” said GCC and Levant general manager at Uber MENA Rifad Mahasneh.

Sharjah residents can download the app via the App Store on iOS devices and on the Google Play store on Android.
