du will no longer be offering beIN channels on its TV packages.
The brand confirmed it’s dropping beIN channels, which show live football from European leagues alongside cricket, tennis and movies, from July 1.
Customers were told the update on Wednesday via email and du told them that they will receive a monthly refund of Dhs184 due to the broadcaster’s services being removed.
The email read: “We’d like to inform you that beIN services will no longer be part of your du Home Plan effective July 1 2023 and a discount of Dhs184 will be applied on your plan monthly fee.
“Our primary goal is to provide you with the best services and offers available. Please be assured that we will update you in due course about some exciting new offers.
“If you would like to change or cancel your service without early termination charges, please visit our app du.ae/myapp or call 155 before 20-10-2023.”
Those who are subscribed to the beIN standalone TV package will see it automatically removed from their plans on July 1, 2023, and customers will not be charged any termination fees.
du has also shared that customers can change or cancel plans with no additional charges until October 20.
Still, want to be able to watch all the telly beIN offers? You can purchase these services directly via beIN official channels.
beIN shared with Time Out Dubai: “Discussions with du regarding the renewal and inclusion of beIN’s channels in its packages have been ongoing for many months.
“Should beIN not be available on du packages from 1 July, when the current agreement ends, beIN will continue to provide its valued and loyal UAE subscribers with the world’s very best premium sports and entertainment content.
“UAE customers can still watch key sports events such as European football leagues, UEFA club and national team competitions, ATP/WTA tennis including Wimbledon, this summer’s The Ashes series between England and Australia, NBA and American sports, and much more through the beIN Satellite Network (visit bein.com and/or call: +974-400 90000) and TOD (visit tod.tv). du subscribers inquiring about possible cancellation and/or refunds should contact du customer service on +971-43905555.”
We think it’s always better to go out and watch sport, though. Looking for somewhere to catch The Ashes in Dubai? Click here.
